Impeachment
Art. I §§2–3, Art. II §4
The rule
The President, Vice President, and all civil officers may be impeached for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. The House impeaches by simple majority; the Senate tries and convicts by two-thirds. Impeachment proceedings are non-justiciable political questions (Nixon v. United States).
In plain English
The Constitution's exclusive removal mechanism for federal officers. Everything about it — process, standard, penalty — is committed to Congress and courts stay out.
The trap
Judicial review of impeachment procedures — there is none.
